“Her hair was the same color as carrots and she wore two braids that were so tightly wound that they stuck out sideways from her head.. Her nose looked like a small potato and was coverd with freckles. Under her nose, a large mouth with white and healthy teeth. Her dress was really unusual since Pippi had sewn it herself. She wanted it to be blue, but the blue fabric was not enough and therefore Pippi had sewn here and there some small pieces of red fabric. Her long and slim legs were covered with two long stockings, one brown and the other black. And she also wore a pair of black  shoes that were twice the size of her feet.

“She was nine and lived completely on her own. She had neither mother nor father, and this was not too bad since nobody told her to go to bed when she was having the most fun, and nobody ordered her to eat cod-liver oil ,the moment she wanted to eat some candies”

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the most famous Swedish writer of children’s books, Astrid Lindgreen, Fondazione Aida takes on stage her most beloved character, Pippi Longstocking.

The show tells the adventures of Pippi, a very unconventional child, and her friends, through their jaunty and light-hearted eyes.
Pippi’s adventures starts when she arrives at her old house, Villa Villekulla, with her monkey Mr Nilsson and a horse who lives on the veranda, and she meets her neighbours and playmates Annika and Tommy in a colorful and funny scenery. Through the show, children get to know in a funny and satisfying way, one of the most famous characters in the world, for her attraction, capacity to communicate, get into trouble and behave in a quite rude way, just like boys do.
